Why Do We Hate Photos of Ourselves?

So often, women will look at photos of themselves and shudder. We are all guilty of looking at our flaws and forgetting that this is actually a gorgeous picture. One of the reasons that women don’t like seeing pictures of themselves is that we simply don’t know how to pose.

The first trick is learning how to angle your head. Straight-on pictures have an absence of shadow which makes your face and neck look like one weird mass. A simple solution is to tilt your chin up or down a little bit to make sure that there is a shadow to provide some definition. This is definitely something to practice in the mirror and with selfies. Sure, you will take a million dreadful pics, but you only need one good one to replicate every time!


People can spot the difference between a genuine smile and a fake smile so if you are consciously posing for a picture, you could come off as fake. This might sound like a disaster but there is a simple solution. Just having a little chuckle to yourself will help you produce a real smile and will improve your photo infinitely.

The more relaxed you are, the less nervous you will be and the more natural your pictures will become.
