We’ve all been there before. Peeking into the closet, trying to figure out how many times I can wear that same dress this wedding season. Factor in the weather, how formal, and where the wedding is taking place… forget about it. Most times I just throw my hands up and wish I could wear sweats.
Finding the right dress for the right venue is always the hardest part. You want to feel great about yourself, appropriate for the day, and comfortable at the same time. Don’t worry! I have a few simple solutions to save you this wedding season. Ready?!
My best tip is wear something you feel comfortable in. Remember, it is a long event, and the most important thing is to be present in the moment. Not constantly tugging on your dress, or wishing you wore a different heel. Think about what you typically wear day to day. If you know a specific silhouette that is best for your body, just rock that style, all day every day. For me, I usually opt for a maxi dress or a fitted midi. A-line dresses have never looked right on my body, cutting me off at the wrong spots and making me look wider than I am.
Secondly, wear a material that is breathable. Meaning, light and flowy for those hot summer days. Organza, tulle, cotton are great options. Stay away from, silks and wools (obviously), they are heavy or not breathable.
Lastly, a super saver tip! If you don’t want to buy, rent! You can rent formal dresses from Rent the Runway. It is so much more cost efficient than buying three dresses for three different weddings. I use them all the time for big events that I’ll only be wearing the dress once. The perk is I don’t have to worry about dry cleaning, or finding extra space in my closet to store it later. Use this code to get 20% off your first month of Rent the Runway unlimited (which is what I use) with the code FIRST! I find that the Unlimited option is a better deal, especially if I need jewelry or look to rent designer pieces. Take a look at my review of Rent The Runway Unlimited for more information!
