Go shopping in Menteng

If you love to see the culture and architecture which occurs in the city, then a visit to Istana Merdeka is definitely one to add to your list. This building acts like a palace and sits right in the heart of the city for everyone to marvel. At this current time it is the residence of the president of Indonesia and you can certainly see the grandeur of the building from the outside. It was built in 1879 and it remains a stunning central point to the city of Jakarta.

Thousand Islands

If you love heading for the beach and getting away from the hustle and bustle now and again, a trip to Thousand Islands is well worth it for you and your family.  A few hours outside the main city you will find this place which is full to the brim with white sandy beaches, beautiful crystal clear waters and secret coves. Monas Tower

Monas Tower is a symbol of the independence of Indonesia from Dutch rule which occurred in 1945, and it is the most famous symbol in the whole of the city. Monas Tower stands proud in the city as a reminder of the history of this country and it is a monument which is loved by all. It is located in Merdeka Square. When you visit, you’ll also find a gallery which teaches some of the historic points and means of the tower.

Ragunan Zoo

Every amazing city has a zoo, and Ragunan Zoo is a huge zoo which sprawls over 185 hectares of land allowing you to see over 3600 different species of living creatures. If you want to see some of the local Indonesian animals who live here you will be able to see Komodo Dragons and Orangutans enjoying the sun in their enclosures. You can also see animals from further afield too as well as a flowers and plants which are colorful and unique to this part of the world.

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah

Indonesia is a country which is made up over over 17000 islands and this makes it one of the most unique holiday spots in the world. As well as this being the case it means that during your time here you will not be able to even scratch the surface of the whole country. As such, in Jakarta there is a model called mini Indonesia which will allow you to walk through a mini version of the country and see some of the amazing features from all over. It could be a great idea to visit if you are trying to plan the rest of your trip!

Istiqlal Mosque

Istiqlal Mosque is a huge mosque and one which is famed as being the largest one in the whole of Southeast Asia. It is a stunning building which has a capacity of 120000 people visiting at any one time. You can pray in this mosque or simply take a look around at the stars and the details of the architecture. Whether you are Muslim or not, you’ll be able to appreciate this space and see it for its glory.
