Messed Up! Perfect Your Bed Head

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you looked great as soon as you rolled out of bed? I know personally if I didn’t need to do your hair, I would save a lot of time in the mornings. Simply get up and go!

Well, if you take a look at some of the biggest celebs out there, you’ll notice that they might just be doing that – the likes of Harry Styles, Jennifer Aniston, and Rachel Bilson have all perfected the bed head look. So much so, that they have now made the just-got-up look super chic!

Are you ready to get your bed head out to see just how good you can look without actually doing your hair in the morning? Here are all the tips that you need to know to get all messed up and perfect the bed head look!

Get The Right Cut

First off, make sure that you have a haircut that will suit the bed-head style. Go to your local hair salon and ask your stylists for advice on low maintenance haircuts. It is best advised to not tell them that you want bed-head hair. After all, that will mean different things to different people and your stylist could interpret it entirely differently to you. To really nail the look you are after, bring plenty of pictures of celebs’ bed heads hairdos so that you can show your hairdresser your exact inspiration. And then there’s no chance you will walk out of the salon in tears!

Add Some Shape

You won’t be able to create a good bed head style by simply sleeping in your hair. This will simply flatten down your locks and it could end up frizzy and a bit too messy. You need to try and add some shape and volume in a different way. The way that you choose will largely depend on your hair type. If you have very fine hair, you might want to use a pair of the best hot curlers to add some volume to your hair while you sleep. There are other ways you can add some shape, such as with hair irons or by simply spritzing some volumizing product into your hair and sleeping with it in.

Put Down The Brush

You might be tempted to pick up your brush and smooth through your hair as soon as you wake up – don’t! If you do grab your brush, you will only end up brushing out any shape that has been added overnight. Worried that your hair is a bit too messy or frizzy? No problem, you can just run your fingers through it to neaten it up. If you think that your roots are a little on the frizzy side, you can simply wet your fingers and smooth them down with water. This should put an end to any flyaways without ruining your bed head!

Dye Your Hair

Generally speaking, hair that is super healthy will be very difficult to style into a bed head. Even if you can get it looking just right once you wake up, you will find that the style tends to fall out as the day goes on. There is one way around this, though. You just need to dye your hair! When hair is dyed, it is stripped of its natural oils and is ever so slightly damaged. Don’t worry, though, it won’t be damaged so much that it looks unhealthy. The damage won’t be visible but it should be enough to help hold any shape in the hair. That’s because there will be enough friction in the strands for them to keep their shape. It won’t simply fall out, even if you don’t have products in your hair.

Consider Heat-Free

If you don’t like the idea of using curlers and hair irons so much to create a bed head, fear not! There are some ways you can achieve this look without any heat. One of the best things you can do is to sleep in braided hair. In the morning, simply take out the braids and you should find that your hair looks tousled. If you want to make sure that all the tousles stay in your hair all day, give it a quick spritz with some hair spray!

As you can see, creating a stylish bed head isn’t all that difficult to do. And there are ways you can do it with or without heat, so even those of you have already badly damaged hair will be able to create this style.
