Or because you’re really quite privileged compared to the amount of suffering or bad things that go on in the world? You’re not the only one. So many of us suppress our wants and needs in life for the wrong reasons. When you’re not focusing on yourself and living your best life, you may find yourself feeling unsatisfied and unfulfilled. Even if you’re okay with that right now, saying to yourself, “Oh it could be worse,” it may go on to manifest into a mid-life crisis in the future. And that, my friends, can be horrific. So it’s time for you to recognize that it’s okay to be selfish and to focus on what you want.
However, one thing that many of us suffer with when it comes to this, is knowing what we really want out of life. Most of the time, it’s easy to work out what you don’t want. You’ll often know what makes you unhappy. But when it comes to thinking about what you do want, you may drawing a blank. So to get yourself on the right track, and be in a position where you can start creating the life you love, you will need to know what YOU really want out of life and what matters to YOU the most – not anybody else! Here are some ideas to think about for this.
1. To Be Happy
Now, we’re going to kick off with the most general and the most important one of all. And it’s to be happy. Are you happy in your life? Do you just want to find happiness? If you do, then you’re not alone. We all do. But this then means that you need to break down your life and work out what makes you happy and what doesn’t. By focusing on more of what makes you happy and feel good, you should find that you start to attract more of what you want out of life.
Or maybe the most important thing to you is love? If you want to be in a lovely, supportive, and committed relationship, then go after it! Put yourself out there. Find a group of friends and go out, or make sure you are in your local shops open to talk to others nearby. But don’t be fooled into thinking that love is the solution for everything in life. Instead, you need to be real and ready to work to find the best possible love. To be happy in a relationship, you have to work on it daily. It’s a journey that lasts forever, but it is also one of the most gratifying feelings to have a partner in life. If that’s what you want, just be prepared to work on yourself each day.
Are you someone that seeks success more than anything? If you know you want to be successful at whatever it is that you do, then find exactly the career and activities you love to preform daily. If you are passionate and love what you do, success becomes easier to achieve. Achieving what you want in life doesn’t have to be difficult. It’s simple, but it will take time, effort, and patience. Never give up on yourself or your dreams.
4. Financial Security
Most of us want financial security. If enjoying financial abundance as well as security is what you want, you’re going to want to start saving. Putting aside cash each paycheck is the easiest way to become financially secure. Then, learn how to invest and start earning a return on your investments. To have your money make money, is the best way to have continual cash flow without much effort. Stay focused, and it will happen.
5. To Make A Difference
Maybe what you want most is to be able to make a difference in the world. When you’re unhappy with what you see, and you know that you can contribute to change, what are you waiting for? Sure, you can take small steps, but you could also make big ones too. So why not make your career and free time all about contributing to a cause that matters to you?
6. To Feel Good
Sometimes, you just want to be able to feel good. I honestly think this is what we are all striving for at all times of the day. Just to feel good in the moment! Feeling good may look like taking the best care of yourself, or being in the best possible condition. It may look like practicing mediation, or going for evening walks. It could be going out with friends, or finding a quiet knook to read. Make a list of all the things that feel comforting to the soul and keep growing that list when you find something else that is soothing.
7. To Look Good
At the same time, it’s okay to want to look good to. You don’t have to want to make a profound difference in your life in order to get what you want out of life. If you just want to feel good, comfortable, and confident in your own skin, then make that your mission. Get to know dry, flaky skin: what causes it and how to fix it, or work on your personal style. Do what you need to do to achieve your goals here.
8. To Have The Lifestyle You Want
Or maybe you want a certain standard of life? Start envisioning what that life may feel like, look like, and the details of what you’re looking for. Having a clear mindset and vision helps attract the next steps to achieve those dreams and that lifestyle you’re looking for. Write it down in a journal and look back periodically to see how close you are getting.
9. To Travel
Are you dreaming of an adventure of a lifetime? Or perhaps just more weekend getaways. Traveling often opens individuals eyes to see what else is in the world, what is possible, and what traditions you would like to incorporate into your own routines. There is something so magical about boarding a plane and getting away for a little bit.
10. To Create A Legacy
Or maybe for you, what you want most out of life is to be remembered? Or to create something that is remembered and really adds to peoples lives? Building a legacy is something that many of us want to do. Sure, it can feel selfish at first, but if it’s what you want – why not go for it? The benefits of creating a company, or becoming a famous writer or actress, will often mean that you’re also in the best position to give back to others, and you leave them with things that enrich their lives. So if this is what you want, it’s time to start moving forward today.
