Irresistible Me Holiday Look

The holiday’s are coming! Meaning plenty of photos opportunities at family gatherings, parties, and other celebrations. I want to take a moment to show what I use to add some punch to my hair because honestly nothing is better than a really great hair day.

For starters, I have thick curly hair that has a mind of its own. Therefore, many formal events I like to straighten my locks to keep each strand in place (at least try to).

Next, I like to add a little volume or style to my look. I recently received these amazing natural hair extensions from Irresistible Me, which not only adds the perfect amount of volume but also length! I am a sucker for super long hair. I feel like a pint-size model with flowing blonde locks. Each time I try growing it out long for myself I get tired of the maintenance and chop everything off.

When I got these extensions, I was super eager to give them a try. I ordered the royal golden blonde in 20 inches and a weight of 200 grams. What I noticed is how well the clip-ins blended with my natural hair color and texture. I was amazed how perfectly it matched.

The process of clipping the extensions in takes some getting use to, but once they are secured, I can feel a transformation. It is like putting on high heels, there is an instance change.

This look is perfect for a New Year’s Eve party, or a Christmas cocktail party. It is a very glamorous hairstyle that will guarantee stunning in photos. For more casual events, I would simply pull back my hair in a ponytail, or braid it. Let me know if you would like for me to demonstrate a more casual holiday look with these extensions in the comments below! Stay tuned for a full review of Irresistible Me.

One Stop Holiday Shop

You may notice a few new things around here. That is because I am transforming the blog into the ultimate, holiday bazaar! “I love holidays, I love holidays, yes I do!”

When you realize there's less than two months until Christmas...
When you realize there’s less than two months until Christmas…

I blame it all on being born on Christmas.

You may ask, “So how is this going to be the one stop holiday destination?”

To which I respond, “Great question!”

First, you will notice a countdown clock to Christmas and Hanuka in the sidebar. Reminding you how many days are left until present time!

Speaking of presents, you will notice in the top menu a new tap called Holiday shop. Under this tap, there are drop-down menus featuring gifts for him, gifts for her, and gifts for under $50. Each will bring up a page of presents for everyone on your list.

There are also two other tabs named holiday decor and holiday fashion that will bring you to a page full of ideas to help you prepare for the season. Check back periodically as more items will be added!

That’s only the beginning! These next two months you can expect plenty of beauty tips and styling tricks for Christmas parties, office parties, brunches and New Years Eve galas. I will also have a special guide to remain sane during this time of year (we all have family that drives us nuts). Make sure to subscribe to stay in the loop for those future posts!

Just Faux You!

In the spirits of World Vegan month, I am sharing some super cute faux leather and faux fur jackets (plus accessories)! The days are starting to cool down, but it’s not exactly parka wearing weather yet. Faux leather jackets make the best in between outerwear while still looking chic. For evenings that are slightly cooler, try faux fur jackets. They will upgrade your outfit while keeping you toasty warm.

The faux leather jacket I am wearing in these photos is from Lulu*s. It is currently sold out, but I found a similar look here and more affordable look here. One of my favorite faux leather brands that I have been following for years is BLANK NYC, which I’ve listed below. The way they drape the material is brilliant. Plus I find them to be relatively affordable for the quality they provide Feel free to click to shop!

Faux leather purses seem to be harder to spot, but I manage to find some gorgeous pieces from Nordstroms. I love these handbags because the quality and workmanship is perfection. What do you think?

Shopping Tips that will Save Money

It is easy to splurge on products that will never see the light of day. I’ve done it. You’ve done it. We have all committed the crime of spending hundred of dollars on never to be used merchandise. And it blows. Looking through my closet recently (and thousands of other people’s closets on Poshmark), I realize that we all fall for the same gimmicks. Buying purses that don’t fit our style, or jewelry that were once great ideas but would never work. It dawned on me simple shopping guidelines might be of interest to many ladies who want to shop smart and save big. So I have collected my top personal shopping tips that will save money.

Shopping  Do’s and Don’ts That Will Save You Money:

1. Don’t buy plastic jewelry. It doesn’t matter if it is Tory Burch or Marc Jacob who is selling it, plastic will always look cheap. DO  save your money for some gold plated bangles from Kate Spade or Henri Bendel instead.

2. Don’t buy fakes or knock offs. I use to run down to Chinatown to buy knock off purses back in high school. They would stick the designer label on it right before you buy it so that cops wouldn’t arrest them. I got such a kick out of it, thinking wow what a way to get a designer purse for less. It wasn’t until a couple years later that I realized fake purses are easy to spot a mile away, and well it is illegal. Overall it not only makes your outfit look cheap, it makes you look cheap. DO save up for a real designer bag, or buy a fun non-designer bag that fits who you are!

3. Don’t buy because of what the label says. This is a big one. Sometimes we buy items because it is a designer label on a massive discount, or because it is a size smaller than what we really are. Ladies, the labels are hidden on the inside for a reason, it doesn’t matter. DO only buy it if you actually really like the piece and it makes you feel amazing.

4. Don’t buy anything that you constantly have to pull or adjust to make it look “right”. This is my biggest money wasters. What I’ve learned is that if I have to pull and tug on the dress in the fitting room, I will be pulling and tugging on the dress all night long. And that is not attractive. DO save your money on an outfit that fits effortlessly.

5. Don’t buy anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. If you feel uneasy and uncomfortable in what you’re wearing, it shows.  DO find your pieces that make you feel like you can run the world. Even if it isn’t “trendy”, find your own style and run with it!

6. Don’t buy out of desperation. Those last minute dresses are typically worn once and then shoved into the back of the closet. Wait until you have more time to think and browse to shop. If you need something for that night and there is nothing in your closet, DO borrow from a friend or use Rent The Runway.

What are some tips you use when shopping? Let me know in the comments below.

Whether it is for you or your boss, these cute indulgences are a fun way to look and feel your best while succeeding at work. Ranging from femme fatal calendars to super luxe body creams, and of course, the rock star studs there is no way you can’t feel like a true #Girlboss. When times get stressful a great scented candle is the perfect way to unwind. My favorite candles are from Henri Bendel. They are luxurious and smell amazing!

Need some positive energy? The Alex and Ani initial bracelet is charged with positive energy to make your day run smoothly. If all else fails, read Mindy Kaling’s latest book and laugh your way through whatever is happening in your own life.

Navigating Columbus Day Sales

Columbus day sales are here for the weekend! It is the last big sale before Black Friday. If you are anything like me, getting a great bag for an amazing price is a total “yes, please!”

So what should you look for during the Columbus day sales?

The biggest discount are on shoes and accessories. You will find price drops anywhere between 25-90% off! This is a great time to stock up on boots for the winter months ahead, or grab a few clutches and accessories for all the holiday parties you’ll attend.

Skip on clothes. This might be the only time I will advise you to ever skip the clothing racks. While there are sales, stores just released their winter wear and it won’t be as big of a discount as Black Friday. Girl, hold on for one more month – it will be worth it!

Who has the best deals?

Here are a list of places holding the best Columbus day sales, and codes to get the best price:

Last Call by Neiman Marcus: 30% off and Extra 10% off with code Gimme10.

Macy’s: 40% off and an Extra 20% off with code Fall.

Asos: 50% off and free shipping.

Barneys Warehouse: Extra 40% off clearance.

BCBG: 30% off sales.

Diane Von Furstenberg: Additional 25% off sales with code Enjoy25.

Kate Spade: 50% off sale and additional 25% off with code Sweet.

Any suggested picks from the sale?

Glad you asked! I have spent hours sourcing the web for the absolute best deals and here they are. My top picks from this years Columbus day sale. Plus, they are all animal loving faux fur and faux leather options. Happy shopping!

The Launch Fashion Show

A series of new designers presented their Spring Summer 2016 designs at The Launch this past fashion week, and I was lucky enough to be invited! Held at the Grand Soho Hotel, the event was was ultra swanky and filled with forward-thinking fashionistas. I had a blast chatting with other bloggers, and sipping organic ginger ale before the shows. Once the designers began their presentation (a total of four shows) we gathered around the runway in awe of the collections. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the respected designers, as well as what I wore to the incredible event. I hope you enjoy!

5 brands you need to know for fall

My favorite time of the years is upon us!  I thought I would share five brands that you absolutely need to know to make this fall that much better. From forward-thinking, to fun designs these brands will brighten the crisp fall days ahead. Enjoy!

Gorjana: I am a fan of any brand whose slogan is live love layer. Gorjana jewelry is simple, delicate, yet absolutely stunning. I had the opportunity to meet her last year at a rewardStyle meetup. She and her jewelry were such a delight in person.

Rebecca Minkoff: We all know Rebecca makes some of the most beautiful handbags, but did you know that she makes some amazing shoes to match? Her fall boots are to die for. I mean, just look at those thigh-high fringe boots!

Revolve clothing: I am obsessed with Revolve Clothing collection of fitted knitted midi dresses for fall! They are perfect to dress up or dress down. I love them the most for the mere fact that all you need to do is throw one on with heels, and you have a complete look.

Tibi: The colors Tibi uses for fall are perfection! I love the deep evergreen and plum hues. Plus the tie details and the draping for each garment are impeccable. This brand is great for classic fall looks.

Zimmermann: Grey never looked so good. I love the way Zimmermann infuses muted tones with high-quality silhouettes and fabrics. The grey felt brim hat and tassel shoes are some of my favorite pieces from the fall line.

Casual Friday

Happy Friday! We made it to the weekend, and now it is time to take a breather. I don’t know about you, but this has been one busy week. I am looking forward to slipping into super comfy clothes and watching some really bad reality shows on Bravo.

Today I want to share some tips on how to create a fun casual Friday look that is sleek, timeless, but still has that designer edge. If you know me even a little bit, you know that this is my ultimate go to look. I love clean lines, no fuss accessories, and black denim.

So, how do you get the look? Really easy. I took one main designer and matched my outfit around that piece. As you can see I went with my all time favorite Chanel black quilted purse. For an alternative, more affordable quilted purse, click here!

The other recognizable brand I am rocking are my Ray-Ban shades. That’s it though for brands! A great tip is to never mix too many designers and labels in one outfit. It becomes a little overwhelming otherwise.

For colors, I went with monotones to create a sleek, NYC vibe. The V-neck long sleeve shirt and black denim pants I found at Old Navy.  I suggest tucking in your shirt to instantly kick the outfit up a notch without much effort involved.

Of course, the shoes are from dollhouse, but you can get an even more killer pair here by Jeffrey Campbell. I pulled my hair pack into a loose ponytail to match the simplicity and clean lines of the look.

A night with Lulu*s

During NYFW, I attended  Lulu*s Style Studio, and then immediately proceeded to fall love with the brand all over again. The event easily became my number one highlight during the week-long celebration of fashion. Lulu*s went above and beyond decorating three floors full of beauty goodies, drinks, and of course loads of clothes to browse through.

A major plus was how incredibly friendly all the attendees and staff were. More amazing was how each girl looked absolutely stunning despite the torrential downpour happening outside. Everywhere I turned, I was greeted by big time bloggers and YouTubers, who were mingling and enjoying the night as well. My kind of heaven.

On the top floor, I had a chance to browse and snag a couple pieces from Lulu*s clothing line. One piece in particular that I took home was this gorgeous leather jacket. I literally ended up wearing this piece to every event thereafter (stay tuned for a featured post). It is truly the perfect fall jacket.

Additionally, there were a plethora of Lulu*s favorite beauty brands at the event. Shockingly the majority of the beauty products were made san parabens, and of high-quality natural ingredients! Mind Blown.

To me, the night was perfection. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off my very first NYFW!
