Trufora: the Vegan Anti Aging Regime You Need

The seasons are changing once again, which means this is a great time to revamp your skincare regime. Each season your skin requires different nourishment. My skin especially changes between from oily to super dry depending on the weather. Winter usually means heavier moisturizers, while summer is the time to go light and include plenty of sun protectors.

This season I am partnering with Trufora and putting their amazing, VEGAN, anti-aging skincare line to the ultimate test. In the past few weeks, I have been wearing the Trufora Day and Night Serum 85 religiously. The name originated from the study that 85% of signs of aging are due to negative impacts of the environment. Our skin needs blockers, or a protective layer between pollutants as well as UV rays. The serum does just that and more.

The day formula is light, transparent and easy to apply. There is no fragrance, aka no irritation! The night serum has a slightly thicker consistency. It relieves any dryness I have after washing my face and leaves my skin soft. I especially love the cute, hot pink packaging. It is easier to remember to apply the serum when I love looking at the bottles!

Overall, the duo is a perfect balance skin regime for summer and a great natural alternative. It is so light, effective, and keeps my skin protected from signs of aging. Pair the serums with a great sunblock and your skin is good to go for the summer.

Did you know that harsh chemicals found in most anti-aging products can cause more damage than repair? In fact, it is believed that even botox and fillers age the skin long term. Sticking with natural products not only are safer for your health but leave you looking younger longer as well.

Trufora is Dermatologist tested. Suitable for all skin types. Fragrance-free. Non-comedogenic. Non-irritating. Non-sensitizing. Cruelty-Free and Vegan Certified. Only good ingredients, for great skincare.

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

This past Saturday, I attended the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. While it was the 9th annual VC Polo Classic, it was my first time attending. And boy, was it quite the experience. The polo match took place in Liberty State Park, a park I stare at every morning when I open up my shades. None the less it took nearly 2 hours to get there. Droves, upon droves, upon droves of the BEST dressed New Yorkers I have ever seen were all eager to attend the match as well. The ferry line at Battery Park stretched for three hours! Three hours of these gorgeous men and women in the beautiful suits and sundresses (and heels) were patiently waiting to board the 20 minute incremented ferries. Sweat dripped down every well-groomed neck and back. But no one batted an eye. They were troopers, determined to get over to the Park and enjoy the game.

Luckily my fellow blogger Gina from What The Doost, and I had a Rosé Garden ticket that allowed us to skip the line. The reason it took 2 hours was the walk to battery park, the wait for the next ferry (comes every twenty minutes) and the little bit of boat traffic that we experience while on the ferry. My recommendation for commuters to the Polo Match next year is to either get the early access tickets, go super early and bring tons of water and flat shoes, or head to New Jersey and uber it from the Path train. It would have probably cost $25-30, but worth the time you save. You can always take the ferry back, which is a much shorter wait.

The High Line & Firmoo Sunnies!

Exploring every nook and cranny of New York  is one of my favorite parts of living in this magical city. For the past 6 1/2 years, I’ve been venturing to the High Line. Practically ever since this “park in the sky” was built, it has been my oasis. I remember in the warm summer months right as dusk fell, there used to be a cabaret show from one of the ladies who dwelled in the apartments overlooking the High Line. She would sing classic broadway songs to about twenty of us marveling in disbelief that we happened upon a free show.

From sunsets to sunbathing, the High Line has it all. Even in the cooler weather, it is nice to be above the honking taxis and racing über drivers. But if there is one thing I’ve learned the hard way it is, never venture the High Line without a great pair of sunglasses!

Today I am wearing my new pair of sunglasses from Firmoo, an online optical store housing a plethora of affordable glasses and sunglasses. I chose the #CM8059 in tortoise-shell with priority shipping. I received them quickly in the mail with a beautiful hardcover sunglass case, a soft pouch, and a pink lens cloth. They even sent a small tool to tighten the screws in the lenses if they become loose. They really thought of everything!

I chose this particular style because I love how big they are. I am also loving the colored mirrored lens trend happening right now and wanted in on the fun. They are very comfortable, not pinching anything nor are they heavy. It feels weightless on my face. The double bridge bar makes these sunglasses stand out from the rest, which I really enjoy. The best part, they are only $19! Isn’t that crazy?

I thoroughly enjoy the customer service as well as my new sunglasses from Firmoo. Now it is your turn to try these on for size!

One lucky reader has the chance to win a pair of glasses from Firmoo. All you need to do is comment below with any of these Firmoo styles you’d like to win. Then like my Page on Facebook. That’s it! For additional entries follow my Instagram account. One winner will be chosen at random for the grand prize of a pair of Firmoo sunglasses. Five additional winners will receive $10 off vouchers to Firmoo. The giveaway closes on February 1, 2016. Good luck everyone! Read more info on the giveaway and terms of agreement here.

Customized Holiday Skirt By eShakti

I love this time of year where everyone dresses up for holiday parties and events. Seeing metallics weaved through dresses and sweaters are my favorite. This season, I am dressing up with the help of eShakti. eShakti is an amazing online shop doing incredible things in this world. Not only do they support real women by providing sizes 0 to 36W, but they strive to leave a small production footprint by producing only what’s ordered. Meaning everything purchase is truly made for you! This made my heart skip a beat.

Flipping through eShakti online catalog, I fell in love with three perfect holiday options. The Grace Dress – appropriate and fun for any festive party, the Shawl Collared Plaid Shirt Dress – retro and spunky, and then I found the Cotton Poplin Skirt. Immediately, I knew that was the one for me.

The full A-line skirt cinches at the waist for a classic touch. During the customizing process, I ordered the skirt below the knee and gave them my exact height to make it perfect. I opted to keep the pockets, but you can remove them for free. When I received my skirt, it fit like a glove. I was so happy and excited.

To create the ideal holiday outfit, I paired the skirt with a navy blue sleeveless turtleneck from LOFT. Yes, I am supporting the return of the turtleneck after nearly a decade of banning it from my wardrobe. I threw on a faux fur peacoat from Buffalo (similar here and here) and black pointed heels from Vince Camuto. Even still, the real focal point of the look was my navy blue striped skirt from eShakti. I received bountiful compliments and felt like a doll. The best news is this skirt is easy to transition into warmer weather, making it a piece I can wear year round.

Dress For Success Campaign

As a female entrepreneur, I know first-hand the power of looking your best. Most people assume I wear sweats to work each day as a writer. While I could, I choose not to for many reasons. One, I feel better, more confident, and invincible when I am dressed nicely. My writing is dramatically stronger as a result.

Secondly, I tend to work outside of my home. I never know who I will run into, and who needs a writer. Just this past week, I went to a function and the couple sitting next to me needed a copywriter for their medical group. It literally pays to dress professionally.

On the flip side, since I am not in a corporate setting, I don’t find it necessary to wear a power suit each day. My best tip for confidence is wearing pieces that you are comfortable in. When you are comfortable, you exude confidence.

Therefore, my go to work style is black denim pants, nice boots, and a sweater. I wear clothes that are tailored and fit nicely. For these reasons, I love shopping at LOFT. They provide amazing quality clothes that are easy to wear. I never want to worry if a shirt is too tight, or I am spilling out of a skirt while I am writing for hours on end.

Women Entrepreneurs On Wednesday

#Womenwow (Women on Wednesday) is a movement taking place this December, where ever Wednesday is dedicated to supporting Women Entrepreneurs. Wendy Diamond, who also hosted the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Event at the United Nations, started this campaign in the efforts to bring more awareness and support to female entrepreneurs.

I had the honor and privilege to attend the United Nations event where worldly leaders and speakers gathered to share their perspective. Topics ranged from what is holding women back from success, why it is important for more women to be present in the government, and how a loan of $60 can change a woman’s life. The event streamed live in 114 countries, and in several universities. Making it a day of global awareness of what is truly happen to half of the world’s population.

The United Nations, Women entrepreneurship Day event

From the empowering event, here are the top statistic that were jolting to hear:

” 80% of women’s salary goes to kids while 30% of men’s salary goes back to children. When we invest in women, we are investing in the next generation”- Rodrigo Arenas, a member of the Guatemala government

“98% of women pay back their loans,” Vicki Escarra, Global CEO of Opportunity International

“We need more women in government. Half of the population is not in the conversation” – Atti Riazi

“During slavery it cost the equivalent of $4, 000 per slave, today you can buy a girl for $300. Women don’t even know they own their own bodies” – On sex and human trafficking. The best prevention is to have more women presence online.

United Nations Womenseday

The best advice from leading women:

“Let’s stop telling women there are road blocks, we are not going to make it. We are up against the same issues as men.” Christine Souffrant, Founder of Vendedy on the topic of what holds women back.

“They see the importance of it, and they know they can change it,” Heidi Messer, Co-founder of Collective[i] on what makes a person an innovator.

“Self-awareness, be authentic, never stop learning, workout because you’ll need the energy, don’t tell anyone your passions- make them bullet proof, and find a man who enjoys staying home to raise the kids” Leslie Blodgett, Creator of bareMinerals on how to be successful.

“Being an entrepreneur is like jumping out of a plane and building a parachute on the way down,” Erika Karp, CEO of Cornerstone Capital on discussing the fears of being an entrepreneur.

“Just because you are captivated by the men in your group and what they are saying, doesn’t make your voice less important. When you think it, feel it, go ahead and say it!”- Jen Welter

United Nations Women entrepreneurs

The event and #WomenWow made me want to share my own personal story of being a female entrepreneur. After graduating college into a recession, I worked mediocre jobs to get by. It pained me to take jobs where I feverishly worked for another person’s dreams yet only paid slightly more than minimum wage. I decided to make a change. I wanted to create my own schedule, work in a field I was passionate about while still had time to work on myself emotionally and physically. I began freelance writing for startups, blogs, and young entrepreneurs. I still remember my first paid writing job and thought it was a dream! When I started, I didn’t think I could actually do it, I second guessed my talent and work. But with that first job under my belt,  it empowered me to continue.

I push forward with content writing, product descriptions, and blogging for other companies. Eventually, I began this blog to see what type of platform I could create for myself. I knew having a published voice meant power, having a readership meant power, and I knew as a society we needed more powerful women online sharing real opinions and advice. As a result, I had the opportunity to meet some of the most incredible individuals who inspire me, lift me higher, and spark creative solutions to problems we face as a whole. One of the many influencers who helped me was Heidi Nazarudin from Blogger Babes, who showed me how amazingly rewarding a blogger babes life can be.

I still continue to grow, learn, create, and this blog is the physical result of the never-ending evolution. In honor of #WomenWOW, I am preparing once more a new shift in direction for this blog, sharing empowering articles every Wednesday that will help women around the world to reach their fullest potential, or in the very least have a voice and outlet to turn to.

Let me know in the comments below what empowers you, and how you are supporting Women Entrepreneurs this month!

Irresistible Me Review

Recently I received my first ever set of hair extensions. As a beauty blogger and fashion addict, I was giddy with excitement to get my hands on the luscious extensions by Irresistible Me. The process of ordering the set was simple. Irresistible Me has a video that demonstrates how to match to your exact hair color. The company also displayed real users and what colors, length, and weight they chose for extensions. I ended up with Royal Golden Blonde(#14) at 20 inches and a weight of 200 grams (the heaviest).

The extension came international and took about a week and a half to receive the order. But when they arrived I immediately tried them on! The color match identically to my own hair. I was amazed! The extensions are made from real human hair, which helped create the perfect texture. What I love about the packaging is that there’s one small section that you can open to see if the color matches and if it doesn’t you can return your order for free! Super reassuring.

In total, I received one large clip fastened by 3-clips, two 1-clip-ins, two 3-clips in, and five  2-clip-ins. That’s 10 clip-ins. That’s a lot of extensions.

I quickly learned the best way to apply the extensions is to start at the base and evenly place the clip-ins throughout. This took some time and patients as I had never done anything like this before. With each try, it got a little bit easier and quicker. I think next time I am going to try to create tiny hidden braids to have the extensions to hook into easily and securely.

The overall effect of having the extension in were absolutely amazing. It was an instant transformation. I felt like a model with flowing, long, blonde hair. I love how they made me feel.

What do you think?

Irresistible Me Holiday Look

The holiday’s are coming! Meaning plenty of photos opportunities at family gatherings, parties, and other celebrations. I want to take a moment to show what I use to add some punch to my hair because honestly nothing is better than a really great hair day.

For starters, I have thick curly hair that has a mind of its own. Therefore, many formal events I like to straighten my locks to keep each strand in place (at least try to).

Next, I like to add a little volume or style to my look. I recently received these amazing natural hair extensions from Irresistible Me, which not only adds the perfect amount of volume but also length! I am a sucker for super long hair. I feel like a pint-size model with flowing blonde locks. Each time I try growing it out long for myself I get tired of the maintenance and chop everything off.

When I got these extensions, I was super eager to give them a try. I ordered the royal golden blonde in 20 inches and a weight of 200 grams. What I noticed is how well the clip-ins blended with my natural hair color and texture. I was amazed how perfectly it matched.

The process of clipping the extensions in takes some getting use to, but once they are secured, I can feel a transformation. It is like putting on high heels, there is an instance change.

This look is perfect for a New Year’s Eve party, or a Christmas cocktail party. It is a very glamorous hairstyle that will guarantee stunning in photos. For more casual events, I would simply pull back my hair in a ponytail, or braid it. Let me know if you would like for me to demonstrate a more casual holiday look with these extensions in the comments below! Stay tuned for a full review of Irresistible Me.
