I recently had the opportunity to board the Peace Boat along with a few renowned United Nations delegates. It was an incredibly moving experience that I wanted to share with all of you. The night was full of inspiration and messages from leaders around the world. Here is what the Peace Boat is currently doing to provided assistance and exciting news that was just announced.
The past few years, I have had the chance to work along side the United Nations reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals. I have had the privelege to watch youth leaders present what they are actively doing to achieve all 17 goals, as well as noted UN delegates reporting on the progress of the SDGs. The Peace Boat is probably the strongest example of how numerous of individuals are coming together to create a healthier and happier future.
A Little Bit About The Peace Boat
Founded in 1983, Peace Boat is a Japan-based NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The program combines education, advocacy and travel in a unique social business model while promoting peace, human rights and sustainability.
An Evening On The Peace Boat
The Peace Boat’s 98th Global Voyage docked at the port of New York City on the morning of July 12, coinciding with the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). The ship hosted an evening of why it is important to pay attention of the global, environmental, and the populations health. It also demonstrated ways to get more people involved in the cause.

The Next Step
The Ecoship Project is the next stage of Peace Boat’s journey to promote peace, human rights and sustainability around the world.
Ecoship will address climate action via the responsibilities of maritime transport in carbon reduction and in preventing oceans and coastal areas degradation. By integrating a set of innovative technological and managerial solutions, Ecoship will be a showcase for what the industry can do. With cruising booming particularly in Asia, it is all the more urgent that it is done on sustainable basis.
It was also announce the following day that the Peaceboat has joined the SDGs to continue to achieve the 17 goals around the world.
