Perhaps you’ve done a lot of traveling in your years. In fact, perhaps that’s the problem. You feel as if you’ve almost done too much traveling. You’ve seen everything there is to see, surely? You’ve gone to all the biggest capitals, seen all the most iconic sites (both manmade and natural) and skipped from continent to continent in order to experience every culture to some degree. While that’s fantastic in itself, there’s still very much to explore. There are smaller towns and cities that may never crossed your mind to explore, but contain intricit landscaps and incredible history. That means there’s always more for you to see, should you so wish. And don’t feel bad if you’ve only ever explored your local area because your chance to see more of the world could start right now! Here are some unique places to explore if you want to travel more.
Peru, South America.
There’s a reason we’re going to start with the beautiful country of Peru. While you may have visited South America on your travels in the past, a visit to this part of the world is nothing you’ve ever seen before. Peru is the perfect place to start on an adventure because its mountains hold some ancient secrets and fantastic insights into a slice of history that’s unlike anything else.
If you’re on a mission to travel around the world then the lost city of Machu Picchu is definitely one of the best places in which to start. Head along the Inca Trail to this ancient ruined city and you’ll be seeing a remnant of Mayan civilization that’s both beautiful and hauntingly mysterious. If you go on a tour, you’ll learn about the history of the place. Try to wrap your head around what the city would have been like in its glory days. When it comes to travel, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen this and other ancient cities.

Alabama, United States.
When you’re visiting the States, Alabama needs to be on your list on places to see. This state is often affectionately called the heart of Dixie (Southern United States) and you really get a sense that you’re at the center of something special when you visit this stunning place. The beaches along the Gulf are beautiful spots to visit, of course, but you might be looking for a little more excitement out of your travels. That’s why you really need to head to Muscle Shoals. It’s the center of music history, so if you’re big on the classic musicians such as Dylan and the Rolling Stones, then you need to head to this fantastic city. The Muscle Shoals Sound Studio is where those famous artists and many others recorded their biggest hits. It’s a slice of contemporary history.
A final unique mention on this list is Dongchuan in China. There are many fascinating places to visit in this vast Asian country but the district of Dongchuan is special. The Red Land is a vivid patchwork of beautiful fields varying between vibrant greens and reds. The unique “red earth” landscape of this local area has captured the imagination of photographers and travelers from across the world because it’s so unique. There’s no other word to describe it. This beautiful landscape is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
