How I naturally Whiten my teeth for under $8

coconut oil pulling

Getting your teeth professionally whitened is not only expensive, time-consuming, but also dangerous.  I have close friends and family members relay stories of how having their teeth professionally whitened by dentist destroyed their enamel and caused them to have super sensitive teeth. Of course, not everyone will have that experience if you wish to go that route, but I have found a super safe, simple and affordable way to whiten teeth at home. It involves one ingredient, takes 5 minutes max, and costs less than $8. That remedy is… coconut oil pulling.

Why it works

Coconut oil has properties that not only fight plaque but also helps with the absorption of calcium. Creating strong, healthy, and whiter teeth. It also helps fight gum disease and bad breath due to its antifungal properties.

How it works

Before brushing your teeth, take a tablespoon of organic coconut oil and swish it in your mouth. Do this for five minutes each night. Spit out the oil in your trash so you don’t clog your drains ( I know, kinda gross). After a week, you will start noticing a huge difference!

Where to get coconut oil

Often found in pantries, you can buy organic pressed virgin coconut oil from your local grocery store. The cheapest I found was $8. You can also order Boka’s prepackaged formula for a little bit more. Boka added peppermint into their formula to make the taste slightly better and fresher.

  1. I’m going to give it a try. My teeth for real and when I had them professionally whitened! Of course they denied that the process could have done it!
