Kenneth Ning Presentation

Last week I felt like my second home was Skylight Clarkson Sq. And I am not complaining one bit. With the “make your own hotline bling” setup, a plethora of coffee, and three of the biggest stages for NYFWM, I could have stayed there all day.

The Kenneth Ning was one of the many amazing designers who held their presentation at Clarkson Square. Can I just say, no detail was missed.

General Idea Runway Show

Spoiler alert! I shop menswear. Yep, I do. I often find the best, most comfortable sweaters and sweats in the men’s department. When I was invited to NYFWM, hands down I was in!

I had tons of fun watching all the male fashion bloggers enjoy their moment and get excited about fashion. As a 5’4 woman, there were times I felt a little out of place. As if I had entered into another world. But I love that feeling! Being completely pushed outside my comfort zone is the greatest way I learn.

The Launch Fashion Show

A series of new designers presented their Spring Summer 2016 designs at The Launch this past fashion week, and I was lucky enough to be invited! Held at the Grand Soho Hotel, the event was was ultra swanky and filled with forward-thinking fashionistas. I had a blast chatting with other bloggers, and sipping organic ginger ale before the shows. Once the designers began their presentation (a total of four shows) we gathered around the runway in awe of the collections. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the respected designers, as well as what I wore to the incredible event. I hope you enjoy!

Doré Fashion Presentation

I am still dreaming about all the designs and clothes I saw during New York Fashion Week. One of the most incredible presentation was the ever so flirtatious yet elegant designer, Doré. Held at the spectacular Gramercy Hotel, a line of beautiful models showcased the vibrant Spring/Summer 2016 line.

Doré began designing for dance students using the finest fabrics, as well as construction to withhold movement of the dancers. They easily flourished into providing beautiful ensembles for figure skaters, ballroom dancers and the like. They have been a featured designer on the hit show “So you think you can dance”. I felt very honored to see their upcoming line and spot a few pieces that I would wear every day, dancing or not.

My top two favorites from the line were the black tulle dress with the beautifully embellished top in the first two photos. As well as the long, exquisitely draped red dress in the last two photos. Do you see a favorite you would wear? Let me know in the comments bellow.

New Designer: Isle Poni Lo Swimwear

Isle Poni Lo Swimwear

This past weekend, I attended the Open Runway show at the W Hotel Westwood. Four incredible designers showcased their summer line in front of fashion bloggers, fashion influencers, and media. The designer who stuck out the most was Isle Poni Lo and her swimwear collection. The vibrant colors, the tropical prints, and the incredible silhouettes were gorgeous. It didn’t hurt that  the collection fit perfectly with W Hotels palm tree-lined pool.

After the show I was able to take a look at the swim apparel first hand. I wanted to see first hand the quality of the fabric, the built, and the structure. I wanted to get a feel for it myself. Luckily Isle Poni Lo had a hut in the corner selling their fab bathing suits with the designer nearby for any questions.

Of course, knowing me, I wanted to hear what inspired the designer. Little did I know, I was in for a beautiful story. The designer and creator of Isle Poni Lo swimwear, Ashley Morgan Foster is from the Big Island of Hawaii. She remarks how Isle Poni Lo means wild ponies, which there are apparently many on the island roaming freely. Foster believes that every woman has that wild carefree side of her as well, and created a swimwear line to represent that inner nature.

What I was incredibly taken back by is Foster’s attention to detail. She mentioned that once Isle Poni Lo is more established she is looking for a charity or organization she can give back to. She further explained how the eco-friendly materials are SPF 50, and the tags (with all the information) can be planted to grow wild flowers! Isn’t that insanely beautiful?

Why I fell in Love with Isle Poni Lo:

  • The gorgeous colors, and prints that are used
  • The braiding and structural design of each piece
  • The quality of the bathing suite
  • The fun story around the collection

What do you think about the collection?
