I am a 90s kid, so this particular event, the launch of 90s Forever pop-up shop really spoke to me. I wasn’t sure what to expect since this was my first time at one of Spark Pretty’s pop-up stores. All I knew was, it is located on my favorite street in the East Village and 90s clothing were involved.
For me the start of New York Fashion Week is when I watch Michael Costello’s beautiful designs flow down the runway. This season he did not disappoint when he gave us larger than life hair and gowns. It was Palm Springs in the 70s and I loved every minute of it.
Georgine is a designer who I have been following closely the past year. Seeing her show in September sparked a real interest in her dramatic and fun designs. I’ll never forget the safety pin dress or the leather fringed track pants… I would wear those pants every single day. Needless to say, I was very eager to see what the New York City based designer came up with this season.
Another Project Runway winner showed at New York Fashion Week, and it was dreamy. Leanne Marshall presented her F/W ’17 collection at Clarkson Sq. It was filled with whimsical dresses- her signature silhouette. The talented designer won season 5 of Project Runway and is known for beautifully crafted bridal and ready to wear gowns.
This season’s collection was infused with iridescent fabrics that shifted in the light. I love the structured paired with whimsical draping, I find that perfect for a winter collection. I also really enjoyed how she did the models hair! I was slightly obsessed with the messy updo. See for yourself below.
Jill Stuart presented February 11th at Skylight during NYFW. The collection included sheer panels, ruffles, and dark moody fabrics. Metallic stripes and polka dots ran through the collection while burgundy and black were the predominant colors. Cinched waists and long silhouettes were the primary focus for the designer.
